Trending for 2018

February 27, 2018

Wedding trends are never ending. It’s one of my favourite elements about weddings, as every season is different. I have picked out a few of the key trends for 2018, and I don’t know about you, but I have emoji heart eyes.

Navy is the new black

This is the ultimate statement of the year, not only in the world of weddings. Navy is definitely the new black and adds a style of formality to the day. It’s also a colour suitable for all seasons as it can be the neutral colour within the wedding palette and can be paired with so many options, my personal favourite trio is navy, gold and greenery. It’s such a luxurious colour for a wedding, especially teamed with velvet. Gents this is definitely one for you too, as navy tweed is definitely a winner for the foreseeable future. Goodbye black tie.

Doughnuts & Drip Cakes

Desserts are becoming much more creative at weddings. Pinterest has released their 2018 Wedding Report which is telling us wedding cakes are becoming more simplistic, and all eyes are on the desserts (after the bride of course!) The ‘semi naked drip’ cake is definitely on trend and a personal favourite of mine. However desserts are taking over and I must say I have a ‘hole’ lotta love for a doughnut wall! They are such a fun feature and do not have to be huge, a simple DIY doughnut table is equally as affective. However ensure your venue serve just before arrival otherwise you have a wall of melted sugar -and yes of course, please feel free to steal the pun for a sign.

Master the Macramé

Ultimate boho chic is probably my favourite trend this year and long may it continue. The beauty about macramé is that it is versatile and can be used for so many ideas. It’s probably best that I’m not getting married this year, as even my guest dress code would likely involve macramé – I’m that obsessed.  Bouquet wraps and table runners are so delicate and it is such an easy method to add texture, which will tie everything together. My ultimate favourite is an ivy lined wall which will make the perfect insta-worthy backdrop for your guests. This trend is just an overall yes, yes, yes in my eyes!

It’s all about stripping things back and polishing the details, and embracing the Scandinavian look. Choosing an industry venue can go two ways – neutral, bright & fresh with the added leaf look working with crisp white and green tones or you can opt for floral arrangements, pontoon lighting with a cosy candlelit vibe. Either way gives your day a really cool edgy vibe. This wedding trend is definitely the place for all things marble and copper!

Want the ultimate wedding photo? No ‘problem-llama’

I’m pretty sure this trend makes everyone in the world smile. Llamas and Alpacas are the new four legged wedding crashers. You are able to rent these fully trained, fashionable animals for your big day, something your guests will definitely not forget. Sipping champagne and petting a fluffy alpaca wearing a veil is any animal lovers dream! They may outshine the bride but I’m sorry, on this occasion they can as they are so stinking cute! My personal favourite is Jean-Pierre (see picture below) – she is definitely worth an Instagram follow to brighten up your day. Although don’t get too excited, she lives in America. So if anyone reading this wants to lend me a farm in Northern Ireland to keep pretty alpacas on, that would be great.

Love, Jade x
