I have a love/hate relationship with wedding favours. When I ask the favours questions at planning meetings, I always get the same response – couples cant decide, realise they’re pricey and ask me for last minute ideas. Honestly, at this point I usually advice two options – charity donation or a drink token. Simply as they are easy last minute options, but I feel it’s sad that favours are always left to the end of the planning when both the budget and timings are tight.
I hate the idea of favours being wasted and not taken home for your guests to enjoy. This happens a lot no matter what you offer unfortunately. A past bride of mine once provided Molten Brown products for every guest- so were so many left behind I had to ring her to arrange returning them, she kindly gave them to me and I am still smelling like Coco & Sandalwood (my favourite!) – lesson of the day, no matter how glamorous the gift, you will always end up with some wastage.
This is why I encourage incorporating your favours with your table plan, this idea mainly comes from America, but favours take time and cost money – so why not make a feature out of them? Here are my top 5 favourite ideas…
“Always meant to bee…”
Bumblebees are never welcome at weddings but we can use them for inspo! This little offering of a honey dipper indicating guests names is perfect for a Spring/Summer wedding. Tie it all together by providing mini jars of honey for your guests to take home! This is a really easy idea to create, you can bulk buy the honey dippers and jars online & simply create the little name flags yourself at home.
“Love grows here…”
These cute succulent pots are adorable for guests to find their table and take home, who doesn’t love a Cactus these days? Greenery and foliage is a reoccurring trend at the moment and these would tie in perfectly!
‘Take a treat, to find your seat…”
It’s such a clever idea to incorporate your table plan with your guests favour – it’s also cost saving. I always find edible favours are never wasted! We actually used this idea for my sisters wedding with macarons and it worked really well. We used little flags to indicate the guests name and their table number. There are so many treat options which you can offer, maybe cake pops or cookies? Even mini champagne bottles if your budget allows it!
“Let love sparkle…”
Sparklers are becoming a must have feature at weddings now – which is so lovely as everyone has fun with them and the picture opportunities can be cute! Sparklers are not overly expensive and most couples are giving them out anyway, so why not make them a feature gift?
“Please be seeded…”
This is such a lovely idea for Spring weddings – it’s easy to do and is budget friendly which is always a plus!
Just a few of my favourite little ideas which I’ve pulled together! I hope this gives you some inspiration, on how you can save money yet create a much more creative table plan – win win!
