AMY & MARK

1. How did you meet your fiancé?

Ha this is a long funny story! Short version is my husband has a coach business in Cookstown and was driving a primary school trip to York. My mum who worked in a primary school was on said trip. After 4 days of joking about with Mark (my husband) telling him she had a wife for him at home he asked for my number and the rest was history as they say. Five years later he proposed and then three years after that we finally got our dream wedding.

2. How did Mark propose?

We were in Iceland on my dream trip and he proposed at sun set on the diamon beach. It was so romantic and definately a once in a life time trip, Iceland was amazing!

3. Were your wedding plans impacted by Covid-19?

Yasss but I’m glad they were. We had a venue change and 3 date changes but we got there. We were originally planning a big wedding in a hotel. 2 years or so into planing we were feeling major regrets but we had committed to it so we had to keep going on with planning. Then COVID happened and although it was a major pain because we didn’t know until a week before that our wedding was able to go ahead but it did mean that I got the intimate wedding in a castle that we were longing for. We originally had planned an Autumn wedding and when our ‘should be’ wedding day was the most perfect autumnal day I was devastated… but it turned out better that we managed to pick the most beautiful Winters day in December and with the addition of fur coats and a few nods to Christmas - everyone was ready to go!

4. What brought you to Jade Alexandra Bridal?

Everything! The pink, the pampas wings, the style! It is definately a little slice of heaven. All of the dresses were amazing and not typical of any other bridal shop which is what I loved! So unique and Jade is a Queen! Hands down the nicest person and I felt like I was shopping with a bestie!

5. How did you know your dress was the one?

I felt like the dress was designed just for me, it really was my dream dress - everything I had imagined and more.

6. Do you have any dress shopping top tips for future brides?

If you don’t feel like you are at your most beautiful then it’s not ‘The One’. Take your time and try them all on. When choosing who to bring with you keep it small, I only had my mum as I knew her opinion was the only one that truly mattered. If you have already bought any of your bridal accessories/shoes/jewellery bring them all with you and try them on with your chosen dress - just to make sure you love the completed look.

7. Where was your ‘go-to’ for wedding planning inspo?

Pinterest and instagram were the main places I looked for inspiration. But to be honest a lot of the small details were planned in a matter of weeks because of the date changes and I just went with my gut and was heavily guided by my awesome mum who was a superstar when it came to planning!

8. What was the highlight of your wedding day?

Everything was so magical, it is so hard to pick just one favourite bit! I loved doing our couples portraits just after we got married. It felt like the world was standing still and it was just myself and Mark walking around the castle grounds together. The weather was the perfect winters day, the sun was shining but it was still cool and crisp! It was such a dream day from start to finish, all of the waiting and rearranging was definitely worth it!
