MEGAN & MICHAEL

How did you meet your fiancé?

We met at church & through mutual friends. We were ‘just friends’ for a long time before finally admitting what everyone else already knew. We went on our first official date in 2017 and the rest is history.

How did he propose?

It was New Years Day 2021 and we had been out for a walk with friends. We headed back to Michael's house to ‘say hello to his family’. Little did I know he was picking up the ring. We went to our favourite coffee shop for brunch and then headed to Stormont for a walk. I was totally oblivious, so much so I was telling Michael how I’d like him to propose thinking it would be a few years away. It just felt like any other day which was perfect. At one point I walked ahead of Michael and looked back to see where he was … on one knee with my DREAM ring in his hand. I was so excited I took the ring off Michael and put it on my finger myself and after composing myself said YES!

What brought you to Jade Alexandra Bridal?

I had been following Jade Alexandra on Instagram for a few years before getting engaged (standard girl thing) and had always wanted to go. The shop and dresses looked so amazing online, I just had to visit!

How did you know your dress was the one?

I arrived at Jade Alexandra after having tried on about 20 dresses that morning elsewhere; all beautiful, but they were just not me! I thought I wanted a silk wrap dress with big sleeves, I couldn’t have been more wrong. I had planned on getting a second outfit for the evening, so when Jade showed me a jumpsuit AND a skirt I fell in love. I had been told ‘you’ll just know when you put it on’ and for me that was true. My DREAM dress / jumpsuit!

Do you have any dress shopping top tips for future brides?

Dress shopping is an amazing experience to enjoy with your family and bridesmaids so make the most of it, go to lots of shops and try on lots of dresses. Make a day of it if you have time…but no I have no doubts you’ll find the right one at Jade Alexandra.

  • Try on different styles of dress, ones you like and ones you aren’t sure of. It's good to know what you like but its as important to know what you don’t like. The dress I went for was nothing like the dress I thought I wanted.

  • Bring shoes and nude underwear.

  • Do your makeup and hair, this really helps as it gives you more of a feel of what the dress will look like on the day.

  • ENJOY IT!

Where was your ‘go-to’ for wedding planning inspo?

Instagram - follow bridal shops, wedding photographers and florists; they are great & also for finding vendors for your wedding.

Pinterest - I had a wedding Pinterest board since I was at school!

What was the highlight of your wedding day?

I loved every second of the day but the best part for me was the Vows. They were the most important part of our day.
